Heart-stopping moment California cyclist escapes being flattened by stolen Porsche SUV after it slams into another car during high speed police chase

California bicyclist narrowly escaped being mowed down when a Porsche fleeing police ran a red light and slammed into another car as the biker was crossing an intersection in a heart-stopping moment captured on surveillance video.

The video shows the blue Porsche SUV T-bone a silver sedan at high speed at 17th and Julian Streets in San Jose before spinning out and missing the unidentified biker by inches.

Miraculously, neither driver suffered any serious injuries.

San Jose police said the driver of the Porsche SUV, Carlos Bryand, was fleeing from officers at the time of the incident after the 53-year-old driver was clocked for speeding.

Cops said they did not chase after the Porsche, per department protocol, but caught up and arrested Bryand after the crash.

'As an officer, this is the worst-case scenario,' San Jose Police Dept. Officer Steve Aponte said.

'You see so many violations occurring in one time that are not only dangerous for the drivers who are committing them or the riders who were committing them, but for pedestrians.'

Santa Cruz County Sheriff's tell ABC News that the Porsche SUV involved in the crash was reported stolen after two carjacking suspects made off the the vehicle in 2020.

However, Bryand was not said to be a key suspect in that case.

Following the crash, Bryand was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving and other charges.

Video of the incident has already gone viral, with over 270,000 views on Instagram in one day, as of Monday.

The smashed vehicles ended up in Danny Rey's front yard, with the entire scene captured on his security cameras.

On Friday, Rey said that something needs to be done to improve road safety in the neighborhood, according to NBC Bay Area.

'As you can see the traffic right now, we got people crossing the street and this isn't the first accident. It's been ongoing,' he said.

'There's a lot of kids, there's an elementary, a junior high and a high school and they all walk through here,' Rey added.

'I knew this was going to happen because of all the speeding, all the running red lights and the accidents that have been happening.'
