Shocking moment driver hits a COW lying in the middle of a highway - launching his Land Rover into the air

A driver has shared the shocking moment he hit a large cow on a busy highway.

The motorist had been travelling on the M1 Motorway in NSW earlier this month when a cow suddenly appeared on the road before him.

Confronting dashcam footage shows the moment his Land Rover Defender is propelled into the air by the impact before landing heavily back on the road.

'Jesus Christ,' the driver yells before listing off a string of profanities.

'What happened to my caravan. Straight over a f***ing cow,' he says moments later.

In a slow-motion version of the clip the helpless animal is seen kicking its legs from side to side appearing to have slipped on the wet road.

The driver had been towing a 17 foot caravan during the collision which Dash Cam Owners Australia on Twitter said suffered only superficial damage.

Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on the video.




'Holy cow!' one commented.

'That is so horrible, and such a dangerous situation,' another said.




'Both the truck and dashcammer drivers made every effort to avoid the cow, but just couldn't considering the conditions. Goes to show how driving on rural roads can be so dangerous at times, you just have to always be focused.'
