Shocking moment tourist plummets onto Mexican beach when harness on his parasail breaks

This is the shocking moment a tourist plummeted onto a Mexican beach after his parasailing harness broke seconds after he lifted off. The footage is believed to have been shot on Las Gaviotas Beach, in the city of Mazatlan, in the northwestern Mexican state of Sinaloa. It starts with three people assisting the man as he is pulled forward by a boat and quickly rises into the air. But when he reaches around 16 feet above the ground, his harness suddenly detaches from the parachute. The man's arms and legs flail as he plummets towards the beach. He then smashes into ankle-deep water, creating a large splash. He was hospitalised with several fractures, according to local reports which also said he was believed to be from Durango in northwest Mexico. The accident happened on 20th February but the footage only emerged online on March 4. The current condition of man is not clear but the authorities are reported to be investigating the incident. The area is popular with tourists lured by its beaches lined with resort hotels. Parasailing is one of the many activities popular with holidaymakers.
