Cops Struggle to Find Suspect Hiding Feet Away From Car

'Come on guys, he's right there!': Moment bumbling LAPD cops are seen in news helicopter footage searching for suspect hiding right in front of them as bemused news anchor watches in disbelief

Footage captures the hilarious moment a bewildered newscaster attempts to guide bumbling LAPD officers frantically searching for suspect who is hiding in plain sight.
FOX 11's aerial reporter Stu Mundel covered a car chase through South Los Angeles via helicopter on Friday morning where the LAPD attempted to catch up with a silver SUV after responding to a stolen vehicle call.

After making contact with at least two other vehicles on the freeway, rear-ending a car and colliding with another vehicle at a busy intersection, helicopter footage captured the suspect fleeing on foot into a nearby alleyway.

As the cops close in on him, the suspect makes a final attempt to break into a blue car parked in front of a fence but can't, so he decides to hide by the passenger side as several police cars drive up.

'He's trying to hide but doing a very poor job of it,' Mundel says from a helicopter right above the suspect.

But it appears to have been good enough to evade LAPD officers, who exit their cars and walk right pass the suspect, leaving Mundel flabbergasted.

'C'mon guys! He's right there!!' he says in disbelief as the officers totally miss the suspect.

The newscaster then says his helicopter pilot was attempting to contact police to inform them of the suspects position.

'He's right there! Oh my goodness I just feel so bad for those officers,' Mundel says as the officers make their way back towards the suspect, still somehow not spotting him just feet away.

Even as officers surround the car and the suspect is seen clearly from above police still do not seem to see the suspect laying on the ground and an exasperated Mundel simply says it is 'unbelievable.'

'You have to understand, these officers, they don't know the information we know,' Mundel explains to the audience watching at home.

But things appear to turn around for police.

An excited Mundel says 'There you go!' believing the officer finally spotted the suspect.

But the officer just points other officers in the direction towards the fence, feet away from the suspect.

The newscaster is stunned, stating: 'They haven't seen him yet, this is unbelievable!'

Seconds later the cops finally spot the suspect, handcuffing him without incident.

As they take the suspect into custody, Mundel sighs in relief and apologizes for getting so worked up.

'Oh my gosh, sorry it got a little tense at the end!'
