Car misses woman by inches as it flies off road and smashes into tree

This is the terrifying moment a car almost crushed a woman when it flew off a road in China.

The woman was sitting under a tree in the city of Baoshan on March 22 when the small vehicle mounted the kerb and headed towards her.
It smashed into a parked moped next to the woman and hurtled past her with inches to spare before ploughing into the tree.

CCTV footage shows the woman sitting on a chair under the tree in the city in the western Chinese province of Yunnan.

She is engrossed in her phone screen, but suddenly looks up just as the white car comes into view, seemingly on a collision course with her.

The car hits the moped, as she scrambles out of the way, and it misses her by inches.

The woman is checked on by bystanders who rush over, as the driver, who appears to be alone in the vehicle, stays in his seat.

Local media reported that the driver was an elderly man who suffered minor injuries in the crash.

They reported that the driver had apparently lost control of the car as he was in a hurry. He has since apologised to the woman and offered compensation for medical expenses.

The woman, whose injuries were not life-threatening injuries, is still recovering. Neither the driver or the woman have been named.

It is currently unclear if the authorities are investigating the incident.

It comes weeks after a similar incident in the country, when a man posing for a selfie on the pavement was nearly crushed by a lorry.

That incident, which took place in the city of Panzhihua in the southern province of Sichuan on March 2, saw the lorry fly off the road after and in the direction of the man.

Shocking footage showed how the man was just inches from being crushed by the truck

He was able to sprint out of the way, while the red vehicle ended up crashing into a shop and coming to rest where he had been standing seconds earlier.

According to local reports the crash happened when the lorry collided with a taxi at an intersection, causing the driver to lose control and mount the pavement.

It was reported the lorry driver and a passenger were trapped inside the mangled cab for more than 30 minutes.

They were freed from the wreckage by firefighters and sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
