A furious Chris Paul was seen confronting a Mavericks fan who was ejected for alleged verbal and physical altercations with the Suns star's family during Phoenix's playoff loss in Dallas on Sunday.

Multiple fans made contact with Paul's mother, Robin, while his wife, Jada, was shoved, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported. Paul's two sons reportedly witnessed the incident and were frightened.

'They felt very unsafe,' a source told McMenamin.

Another source told ESPN that a spectator followed Jada Paul up the aisle when she left her seat during the game.

Video has since surfaced on Twitter showing the 37-year-old NBA icon being restrained by Suns assistant coach Mark Bryant as he attempted to confront a male teenager, who appeared to be getting ejected. The fan, who was wearing a Mavericks t-shirt, has not been identified publicly, but was seen being ushered out by security.

The Mavericks announced afterwards that the fan had been ejected: 'It was unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. The Mavericks, along with American Airlines Center, swiftly removed the fan from today's game.'

The altercation may have gone unnoticed were it not for Paul's tweet after his Suns lost, 111-101, in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinal series, which is now tied at 2-2.

Paul tweeted: 'Wanna fine players for saying stuff to the fans but the fans can put they hands on our families….f*** that!!'

DailyMail.com asked Mavericks spokespeople if other fans will be identified in connection with Sunday's incident, but the team did not immediately issue a response.

It wasn't immediately clear what Paul was referring to with the post-game tweet and he wasn't asked about it by reporters, who may not have been aware of it.

Later, the video surfaced clarifying Paul's complaint, which seemed to reference several recent fines levied against NBA players for confronting fans.

For instance, Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving was penalized $50,000 last month after he was seen flipping off Celtics fans in Boston during their first-round playoff matchup. A year earlier, a Celtics fan was ejected and banned from TD Garden for throwing a water bottle at Irving, a former Boston star who is now reviled in the city.

In another playoff incident last month, Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges flung his mouthpiece at a heckling fan, only to inadvertently miss and nail an innocent bystander.

Bridges was contrite when addressing the media a day after the incident.

'I was aiming for the guy that was screaming at me and it hit a little girl,' Bridges said. 'So that's definitely unacceptable on my part and I take full responsibility.'

The Utah Jazz have had several player-fan altercations in recent years, including one in which fans allegedly hurled vulgar and racist insults at the family of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant in May of 2021. Fortunately, friendly Jazz fans who were seated nearby alerted security about the alleged instigator, leading to the ejections.

Paul, a spokesman for State Farm Insurance, has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jada Crawley, for more than a decade. He's served as vice president and president of the NBA Players Association and has been selected to 12 NBA All-Star Games.

He was raised by his mother, Robin, and father, Charles Paul, in central North Carolina before attending Wake Forest.
