  1. Texas gunman Salvador Ramos, 18, had been messaging with a 15-year-old girl from Germany in the weeks and hours before he carried out his deadly massacre
  2. The girl, known only as Cece, received a message on the morning of the shooting saying 'I just shot my grandma in her head'

Salvador Ramos legally purchased two AR-15 style rifles, including the one he used in Tuesday's mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas attack after his 18th birthday last week

Screenshots of the pair's correspondence, provided by the girl to CNN , reveal they were exchanging messages just after 11:01am CT - less than half hour before Ramos stormed Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Pictured is mockup of the exchange

One video at the scene appears to show Ramos, 18 approach the school while what sounds like gunfire is going off in the background. Minutes before, the teen had aired his murderous urges to a 15-year-old girl from Germany that he had been talking to for weeks before the attack

'Maybe I could’ve changed the outcome,' Cece told The New York Times Wednesday. 'I just could never guess that he’d actually do this.'

The girl told the outlet she read the messages as soon as he sent them but was 'curious' as to whether he was serious.

After the shooting appeared on the news the next day, she said she contacted US authorities.

The girl, who lives in Frankfurt, said she began chatting with Ramos on May 9.

Ramos reportedly sent the girl selfie videos and spoke of plans to eventually visit her in Europe, videos and text messages viewed by CNN reveal.

The gunman reportedly sent a screenshot of a Google flight itinerary from San Antonio, 80 miles from where the teen lived with his grandmother.

'I’m coming over soon,' he reportedly wrote.

Ramos turned 18 a week later on May 16. Cece said it was about this time that she received a video call from the shooter from a gun store, where he told her he was purchasing an AR-15 rifle.

In the days that followed, Cece says Ramos' remarks grew more concerning, and began to revolve more around firearms.

Ramos excitedly texted the girl on Monday, the night before the shooting, bosting about receiving a box containing ammunition for the rifle, CNN reported.

The teen reportedly bragged about how the ammo was particularly deadly, citing how it expanded on impact.

Cece said Ramos also showed her over FaceTime a black bag containing several magazines of ammunition and at least one gun.

At some point, the girl asked what Ramos planned to do with the weapons haul. He told her it was a surprise and to 'just wait for it,' she said.

Ramos and the girl spoke again on a video call at 10am on the day of the shooting during which he showed off the all-black outfit he would eventually don during the massacre.

He told the girl he could not let her in on his plans until his grandfather left the house.

Ramos texted her again 11:06am, saying that he was 'waiting for' his grandmother, who he said was 'on the phone with AT&T' about his cell phone.

He used a vulgar expletive when referring to the woman.

'Ima do something to her rn,' he reportedly wrote. The screenshots do not show Cece replying, according to CNN.

Ramos' last known address, his grandmother's residence, was taped off by police Tuesday after the shooting. Before heading to the school, Ramos shot his grandma at the domicile. At 11:06 am, Ramos reportedly wrote to the girl, 'I just shot my grandma in her head.' He then told her was planning 'to shoot up a[sic] elementary school'

Ramos grew up in Hood Street before moving to his grandmother's house some months ago, neighbors claimed. The girl who spoke to Ramos, named only as Cece and from Frankfurt, says she regrets not telling US authorities of the declarations Ramos made in their correspondence

He sent a message at 11:21am revealing that he had shot his 66-year-old grandmother Cecilia Gonzalez, and that he was going to 'shoot up a[sic] school.'

Ramos crashed a stolen car into the school at 11:30am before storming a classroom and launching into his sickening attack.

A school resource officer was at the scene but he failed to stop him from making his way inside.

Ramos barricaded himself inside the classroom until a SWAT team breached the door and shot him around an hour later.

Sources say police were struggling to get into the classroom and needed a key to open the door.

A border patrol agent was eventually able to get inside and take out the gunman who was declared dead at 1.06pm.

The Uvalde shooting was the deadliest since 20 elementary-age children and six staff were killed at the Sandy Hook school in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012.

Questions remain over why it took police so long to get into the classroom where the kids were trapped with the gunman.

Frustrated parents were standing outside the school begging cops to go inside when the shooting was unfolding.
